Great question Lauren! There are still a lot of hoops that brands have to jump through to avoid pre-market testing so only time will tell which brands will do it. They also have to stay away from using special-use ingredients (which are still required to be tested). And of course, they still need to make sure their ingredient suppliers are cruelty free. I’m hopeful that some big brands will come through!

I wanted to ask, what does this mean for the recent announcement that pre-testing regulations for ordinary cosmetics will be removed in China as of May 2021? Will this move a large number of brands over to your cruelty-free list?

I agree that if the brand has finally listened to the customer of becoming cruelty-free then there’s no reason to not give them that title. It should feel as though a small victory for us that brands/companies are changing their ways. I do not see why we should single out China when like you said post-market testing can even happen here in the US. Especially when here in the US there is not a ban on animal testing for the whole country. I appreciated the extensive research you put forth on this touchy matter and all of the new knowledge you gave me. Thank you!
